1 … I tried to explain last night the multi-going-ons …
2 … a sense that someone else lives here …
3 … not for this, not to be read here …

Works On Paper
This work documents part of ongoing experiments into how sound interacts with paper. Using transducers and microphones, white noise (a random signal containing all audible frequencies at equal intensity) was played separately through ten sheets of paper of varying weights (GSM) and recorded. These recordings were analysed both with a spectrogram and through close listening to identify resonant frequencies, which were digitally isolated and enhanced. Since resonance was also influenced by other variables, the enhanced versions reflect a process of exploration rather than an attempt to define resonance strictly by GSM. These ten paper studies became the compositional elements for the piece ‘Works On Paper’. Originally shown at the University of Hull Gallery, as part of the Unfolded exhibition, 16th May to 29th June 2025. Headphones recommended. Released May 15, 2025.

Timber – 3 Track EP
Ongoing explorations into the ways sound interacts with paper. Paper sculpture suspended within a frame, white noise played into the form at three points using audio exciters/transducers, the audio transmitted via four contact microphones/transducers. The form of the sculpture is driven by the flow of audio and features responsive elements. Recorded live on 29th September, at the Unfold showcase of work in progress by Feral Art School’s Rewilding Programme, Pier St Hull. Live recording, live mix, and remix. Headphones recommended. Released September 29, 2024.
